Research and Learning Support

Students are provided with opportunities to learn and advance their skills and knowledge during class through the training provided by trainers. Research and Learning Support works with trainers, staff and other departments to provide best possible support to students’ and their studies.

What is Research Support

Research Support helps students navigate the complexity of information and databases that can be found online, through libraries or other resources and information. The help is pivoted toward teaching the students how to perform their own research and find key sources of reliable information they can use in their study.

What is Learning Support

Learning Support helps students with their learning. While students learn, study and improve their knowledge in their chosen fields, there may be need additional help to improve other fundamental skills such as learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy as well as other basic technical skills in programs such as Microsoft Excel (Spreadsheets), Microsoft Word (Word Processors), Microsoft Outlook (Email) and Microsoft PowerPoint (Presentation software). These are examples and are not the limitation of learning support. Learning Support is here to support the students, trainers and teachers in improving students’ education and skills.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN)

As part of research and learning support we include Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN).  As part of the LLN there are LLN Advisors who help students find additional support if they need and continue. The aim of LLN help the students find the appropriate support to the students focussing on fundamental skills that including, but not limited to:

  • Learning
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Oral Communication.
  • Numeracy

Along with additional support in other skills including, but not limited to:

  • Microsoft Excel (Spreadsheets programs).
  • Microsoft Word (Word processors).
  • Microsoft PowerPoint (Presentation software).

This support may include one on one tutoring, finding some extra resources and directing students to services, staff or departments that can help the student with their study. LLN Advisors will also continue to follow up with students to confirm the appropriate support has been provided.

To find the appropriate support LLN Advisors may use different tools to help assess the students’ needs. This can include LLN Tests for the students or one on one consultations between a student and the LLN Advisors. To contact LLN to organise a consultation with an LLN Advisor or have any questions about the services you can email: learningsupport@aibtglobal.edu.au.
